In case you’re growing weary of reading about my right leg here’s something completely non orthopedic for you: the word ‘quarantine comes from the Latin word for 40, which was the number of days (in the 14^th century) that the Venice ports required ships to stay anchored off shore to prevent the spread of the Black Death plague.
